The Great Cleanup Day at Metales Flix – Costa Rica

The Great Cleanup Day at Metales Flix took place on July 22nd and exceeded expectations.

On July 22nd, Metales Flix in Costa Rica, formally joined Grupo Comeca’s 5S Audit Program. This date marked the end of their organization process, and the “Great Cleanup Day” was celebrated.

One hundred collaborators participated in removing the 5,550 Kg of discarded material that was in the plant.

The 5S Program consists of implementing and establishing standards to strengthen a culture of continuous improvement associated with the order and cleanliness of spaces and standardization in production processes. The preparation required training all collaborators through the virtual campus and establishing actions for its execution. They defined:

• Auditable areas

• Area managers

• Members of the 5S Committee

• Cleaning formats

• Standardization of colors, location marking, and labeling.

The company begins monthly audits with this activity, committing to continuous daily improvement, which will result in a safer work environment and better organizational productivity.

The “Great Cleanup Day” exceeded staff cooperation and motivation expectations–more than 80% of employees participated. “It was a very nice activity because the company looks clean now. With this initiative, we start the 5S program that contributes to the cleanliness, order, and standardization of the entire organization,” said Maicol Pérez, production assistant.
