The plant reconstruction is rapidly moving and will be finished this year.

February 23, 2022, was a black day in the history of Grupo Comeca, just as everything turned black after the tremendous fire that destroyed the Empaques Santa Ana corrugator plant in Alajuela, Costa Rica.
After an accident of such magnitude, there were only two paths: the easy one, which was to close the operation, or the more complex one, which was to try to recover and, primarily, maintain the jobs of the 298 employees until the plant was reconstructed.
The decision was to take the second path, overcome the critical situation and move on. Resilience has been a constant characteristic of Empaques Santa Ana’s collaborators.
In recent months important steps have been proactively taken, and everything is taking back its color.
April 2022
The first printer went into operation, aligning with the message that the immediate recovery plan was a fact.
On Friday, April 29, a workshop was held with the Comeca Group Directorate Committee and the Empaques Santa Ana Management team to disclose the recovery plan for the operation. The result was a commitment to work to get ahead under the motto "Faced with the challenge, together making history." The following are images of the workshop and the canvas all company's collaborators later signed.
May and June 2022
Workshops were held with 100% of the collaborators to expose the operation recovery plan and provide the space to talk very closely about this process.
June 2022
The second printer came into operation, making it possible to manufacture boxes for the pineapple sector and the main boxes for client No.1, which is Dos Pinos.
August 2022
The General Management began workshops with 100% of the employees to inform them about construction deadlines.
The third printer went into operation, allowing it to process 100% of the products in its portfolio in the short term.
The great news is that the new plant will be fully built and operating at its capacity by the end of this year.
These are the progress we have made so far.
Empaques Santa Ana is an example of resilience for the entire Grupo Comeca, and, like a Phoenix, it can rise from the ashes RENEWED.
